Could Counter Depth Refrigerators Be the Way For You to Go?

Refrigerators have come a long way over the past 20 years. Let's face it, the refrigerator has made a metamorphosis from a cocoon (ice box) to a beautiful full featured butterfly (modern refrigerator with all its wonderful features). In the beginning we were more than happy to have a way to keep our food cold, but now, we're spoiled with the amazing and efficient units that we all use and love. Our interests and requirements have evolved as well. We no longer look for a refrigerator that "can" keep our food cold or freeze it so we can buy in bulk, no we know that every refrigerator freezer out there can do this. Now we want a unit that fits, or looks great, and has a variety of features that make our life easier.

Today, we want counter depth refrigerators that give us more kitchen space and remove that unsightly bulk of a unit that we used to have to walk around or heaven forbid we stub our pinky toe on it in the middle of the night because we can't see it in the dark! There are more things that make this an attractive choice, actually, than the fact that it flushes with the counter perfectly, gives our kitchen more real-estate, and yes, promises not to stub our toes when all we wanted was a glass of water. Many of these units come with some great features but you don't have to break down the wall to fit them in.

You can replace your bulky unit that's sticking about 3-4 inches past your counter (and is probably pretty unsightly), with one of those counter depth refrigerators of the same dimensions less the depth. The inside shelves and design of the door storage units can actually give you the same space as your bulky unit, especially if it's an older refrigerator where the insulation areas are, well, let's just say bigger than necessary in the modern world of better technology.

One of the innovative concepts being used in newer model refrigerators is the ability to insulate the unit even better with a sliver of the space the older units used. Older units required a lot of insulating material which made the unit much more bulky, hence why it is so large. The internal real-estate is the same, but the external portions were what made the unit so big. Today we have some amazingly thin doors that are twice as rigid, twice as insulated and yet about four times less thick than the older ones. That's right; laptops aren't the only thing being made smaller while maintaining the same "space" in the hardware!

So, there you have it. Now that you've been given a few ways to improve your search for a counter depth french door refrigerator, the next step is entirely up to you. Take hold of this information and make good use of it. It's a lot easier to do nothing, but in the end you will thank yourself for having taken action on this and at the same time reduce your search in half.

Counter depth refrigerators definitely provides more space for storage. I agree that nowadays modern refrigerator designs have thinner doors and makes it look alot slicker which also saves tons of kitchen space.
