Plumbing connection for refrigerator with ice maker?
We are in the process of remodeling our kitchen. Due to space requirements we are looking for a counterdepth french door with bottom freezer or a counterdepth side-by-side. Our new refrigerator location will be on the opposite wall from the sink with no nearby plumbing. I'm looking for a frig that does not have a water dispenser as we have a water filtration system with a special faucet on our sink. I would like an ice maker but does that require a plumbing hook up? If so, is it possible to get a counter depth side by side or counterdepth french door refrigerator without either of these options? I can't seem to find any on the internet...I need it in white. Any suggestions?

Yes, you need a water hook-up for the ice maker to work, but the water hook-up does not HAVE to come from the kitchen sink. Our hook-up comes from our shower. Our bathroom is right behind our fridge, so we just tapped into the cold water line on the shower. We love our french door model with the freezer on the bottom. When we were shopping for it at Lowes, we did see some models that didn’t have any ice makers in it, but they were stainless steel.
You can still buy a fridge with an ice maker in it, even if water is not an option. Just turn the ice maker off (they have on/off switches).
If you want an automatic ice maker you will need a plumbing hook up;otherwise its ice trays.
